Modular Testbed Building (MTB2): A Shared-Use, Reconfigurable, Earthquake-Resistant Design

This project aims to verify the structural behavioral predictions of computer algorithms. In addition, it seeks to prove the importance of modular structural design in earthquake-prone regions. The data in this project can be reused to develop future experiments using the modular testbed building. This includes instrumentation and site planning, as well as determining structural mode shapes from experimental data. This project is unique because it is testing the seismic performance of a full-scale modularly constructed specimen with an innovative combination of lateral systems. The intended audience of this paper is future users of the modular testbed building and investigators studying the performance of modular construction under lateral loading.
