The aim of this study was to characterise from a genetic point of view a collection of isolates of S. Napoli in order to clarify its epidemiology which differs substantially from the great majority of the other serovars.. Characterization of S.Napoli

S. Napoli was responsible for several outbreaks associated to the consumption of Italian food products. Most isolates of S. Napoli are from humans and environment and strains from animals and food are rare. Several studies tried to infer the sources of infection for this serovar, however the reservoir and transmission pathways are still unknown.
