Staphylococcus aureus sp. aureus strain BMB9393 belonging to the lineage ST239-SCCmecIII was isolated from a patient with blood stream infection in a hospital located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1993. Has superior ability to accumulate ica-independent biofilm and adhere and invade human airway cells. Widely found in Brazilian hospitals associated with different infectious diseases mainly pneumonia, bacteremia, and surgical-site infections
