Magnetic minerals are greatly influenced by soil forming factors and processes. Understanding the factors controlling magnetic mineral characteristics and their (trans)formation mechanisms in diverse environments is essential offering insights into pedogenesis and environmental changes. In this study, magnetic parameters, including magnetic susceptibility (c<sub>lf</sub>), frequency-dependent susceptibility (χ<sub>fd</sub>%), anhysteretic remanent magnetization (ARM), saturation isothermal remanent magnetization (SIRM), and remanent coercivity (B<sub>cr</sub>) coupling with geochemical indices, clay mineral assemblages, chemical selective dissolution of iron (Fe), physicochemical properties, and chromaticity indices were used to examine factors affecting magnetic characteristics and mineral (trans)formations in soils derived from tuff and muscovite-bearing sandstone (MBSS) in a humid subtropical environment, China.
