Diversity of marine fungi-like protists in coastal waters off Bohai Sea

Labyrinthulomycetes are unicellular fungi-like (heterotrophic) protists and have long been considered to play a significant role in ocean carbon cycling. However, their diversity and biogeochemical functions in coastal waters are poorly described. This project sequenced 24 environmental samples collected in different seasons and from different sites in coastal waters around Qinhuangdao City of China (Bohai Sea) using Labyrinthulomycetes-specific primers on the Miseq platform to explore their diversity and community variation.
