We used the gene sequencing methods to compare microbial communities in the fine root litter of Pinus tabulaeformis with three diameter size classes (very fine roots: <0.5 mm, intermediate fine roots: 0.5−1.0 mm, and the largest fine roots: 1.0−2.0 mm) and treated with N addition (control, low, medium, and high N amounts correspond to 0, 3, 6, and 9 g N m–2 y–1, respectively) for 2 years.
