Listening to Canadians, Wave 8 Part 1, Winter 2001

\"Listening to Canadians\" is a public opinion survey, which was conducted three times a year. These surveys measure Canadians' views on public policy priorities and their assessment of how the Government of Canada serves Canadians in responding to those priorities. The surveys were conducted by Communications Canada. The questions ask opinions on Governemnt of Canada priorities, the internet, access to Government information and the ability to access Government services. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic and social variables. Topics of interest include: Canada Student Loan; Employment Insurance; Canada Pension Plan; Old Age Security; camping in National parks; Canada Pension Plan; passport applications; Social Insurance Card; income tax return; Federal Public Service jobs; elections; voting behaviour; Government surveys; employment; weather information; ability to e-mail Government officals; Education; careers; Government programs and services for businesses; Government programs and services for the community; providing better services to Canadians; the Government on the internet; Government programs and money; reliability of the media. Basic demographic variables are also included.
