As part of the PNRR-funded MEET (Monitoring Earth's Evolution and Tectonics) project, the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics – OGS has recovered and digitized old earth data.
A large number of printed seismic paper sections were digitized and converted to current SEGY digital seismic data and stored on a secure storage system. Metadata (ISO19115, O&M and SensorML) has been compiled so that the data can be indexed and discovered or searched. A dedicated web-based system was developed and implemented to allow users to discover and interactively view geophysical data, such as seismic data, that was previously difficult or impossible to access.
