Transitional Tourist Gaze at a Post-war Destination

The constantly changing ‘Tourist Gaze’ needs much scholarly attention to globalize. The present study fills this gap by identifying the transitional tourist gaze in post-war Sri Lanka. This qualitative study employs previous literature and the reviews of TripAdvisor.com to identify how the tourist gaze in being transformed in post-war zones of Sri Lanka. The thematic analysis method was employed to analyze the tourist. NVivo 11 (QSR International) software was used for the qualitative coding and thematic analysis. The study identifies that the tourist gaze is changing from ‘Dark Tourism Gaze’ to ‘Environmental Gaze’ and ‘Cultural Gaze’. The study forwards implications to enhance tourists’ gaze at a post-war destination.
