The coconut rhinoceros beetle (CRB) Oryctes rhinoceros (L.) is a cosmopolitan pest endemic to all coconut growing countries in the world. The damage is caused by boring into the centre of the crown, injuring the young growing tissues. As they bore into the crown, they cut through the developing leaves. The feeding activity of the beetles causes major crop loss in many coconut and oil palm plantations. CRB includes four life stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. In this study, developmental stage-specific (i.e., early instar larva, late instar larva, pupa, and adult) transcriptome sequencing and analysis were conducted.
