Cydonia oblonga cultivar:Quince A Genome sequencing and assembly

Quince (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) is the single member of the genus Cydonia in the Maleae tribe of the Rosaceae family. Quince is an underutilized pome fruit with high nutritional value and the tree has importance as a rootstock for breeding related species. The present project aims at constructing a genome assembly of quince in order to provide the basis of further genomic research in this underutilized, orphan fruit bearing Rosaceae species.
