Poverty and Rural Non-Farm Economy (RNFE) capability survey in Bangladesh

The research investigated how the development of the Rural Non-Farm Economy (RNFE) might reduce 'capability deprivation' and improve the state of multidimensional poverty among subsistent RNFE households in Bangladesh. Using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) on empirical data gathered from 360 randomly selected RNFE households in three districts of Bangladesh, it identified and prioritized the factors that need emphasis on RNFE development and multidimensional poverty reduction among different groups of RNFE participants in Bangladesh. Based on the relative importance of these factors, different policy interventions are suggested for RNFE participants with different sex, area of inhabitance, and level of income.
