资源简介:
Many supraglacial lakes on the Greenland Ice Sheet drain by flowing into moulins-vertical holes that penetrate the full ice thickness and route meltwater to the ice sheet base-located outside of the lake's drainage basin. Here, we investigate the fluvial processes constraining these flow paths and how supraglacial streams breach these topographic divides by mapping the drainage path of two supraglacial lakes in the Paakitsoq region of western Greenland. We preformed a roving differential Global Positioning System (GPS) survey extending from each lake's shoreline to their terminal moulin. These transects show supraglacial streams drained through topographic divides 4-11 meters above lake shorelines.
