Repository Description: This repository accompanies the publication "Tracing the Threads: Comparing Red Garments in Forensic Investigations". It contains data and visual materials used in the comparative analysis of red garments in a forensic context. The repository is organized as follows: Database: Garments:Contains 64 subfolders, each corresponding to an individual garment. Each subfolder includes Word documents with photographic documentation of fibres collected from the main textile body and the sewing threads (separately), annotated with fibre types (e.g., cotton, wool, polyester, etc.). Where available, photographs of garment labels are also included. Representative FT-IR spectra:This folder contains representative Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra for acrylic, polyamide, and polyester fibres, serving as reference data for material identification. Red acrylic fibres.PPTX:A JPG image derived from a PowerPoint presentation comparing all acrylic fibres identified in the analysed garments. The image presents microscopic photographs of the fibres under both white transmitted light and polarized light, enabling visual comparison of fibre morphology.
