Loratadine Inhibits Virulence and Biofilm Formation of Staphylococcus aureus

S. aureus strain SA113 was serially subcultured in TSB containing loratadine. Isolates from the last passage of each concentration were picked and successively cultured on tryptic soy agar plates without loratadine for two passages. The biofilm formation of these isolates and the ability of loratadine to inhibit the formation of these cloned biofilms were determined by crystal violet staining. Thus the clones of loratadine that cannot inhibit its biofilm formation were selected, and the whole genomes of these isolates were sequenced.
