VPRS 19118 Senior Medical Staff (SMS) Council - Minutes, Papers and Correspondence

This series comprises minutes, papers and correspondence of the Senior Medical Staff (SMS) Council of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (VA 1048). The SMS Council consists of those senior medical staff elected by their fellows to manage and run the affairs of the SMS. The SMS have been represented by an elected SMS Council since December 1989, consisting of Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, six non-executive (ordinary) members and ex-officio members (Director of Medical Governance) and Executive Director of Clinical Governance and Medical Services. Since then, matters are raised with the Council first, and if appropriate are then addressed at the full Senior Medical Staff meeting. The Senior Medical Staff consists of all specialist medical staff with a senior appointment as Head of Unit. For records relating to the Senior Medical Staff refer to VPRS 19117. Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives.
