Based on a practical engineering background, a shaking table test of 1/15 scale was accomplished to obtain the failure mode of steel arch truss structure. In this project, we described the similarity relationship, design of the scaled structural model, instrumentation and test procedure, then gave the results of natural frequency, damping ratio, acceleration response, displacement response and steel strain under the action of artificial waves, analyzed the change regulation of vibration characteristics, obtained the failure mode of structure. The results show that, with the increase of peak ground acceleration (PGA), the natural frequency and equivalent stiffness of model decreased obviously while the damping ratio increased. The acceleration and displacement response were enlarged gradually as the seismic waves propagated to the top of the model. When the PGA reached 0.8g, large numbers of main truss diagonals buckled and the structural stiffness declined rapidly. At the end of experiment, the structural stiffness decreased by 50% and the main trusses had in-plane anti-symmetric deformation.
