Comparative genomic analysis of cyanobacterial symbiont in geographically distant Theonella swinhoei. genome comparison of cyanobacteria in sponges

Cyanobacterial symbionts "Ca. Synechococcus spongiarum" are widely distributed in sponges. Our understanding of their genomic features is limited due to the availability of their genomes. We obtained "Ca. Synechococcus spongiarum" m9 from Theonella swinhoei via metagenome binning. Compared to the known "Ca. Synechococcus spongiarum", m9 is reduced in genome size and contains O-antigen coding genes that were absent in known "Ca. Synechococcus spongiarum" genomes
