LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA: Isaac Regional Council

LOCATION: The resource is located 33 kilometres north of Moranbah in Central Queensland (see map KRA 125).

EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE: Quarry Rock

EXTRACTIVE RESOURCE DESCRIPTION: The resource is comprised of basalt and is the site of an existing quarry supplying a wide range of crushed products including rail ballast and road base.

SIGNIFICANCE: Based on production rates the resource has the potential to supply extractive material to the Mackay region for over 30 years. The resource is conveniently located to supply to nearby coal mines and associated infrastructure projects. The Goonyella North coal mine is located 5 kilometres to the west. The resource meets the criteria for State significance.

SEPARATION AREA: A maximum separation distance of 1000 metres has been applied around the resource/processing area boundary.

TRANSPORT ROUTE: The extractive material is transported west via Mabbin Road to the northern part of the Goonyella mine and the railway loop or east on a quarry road to the Red Hill Road.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: A minor portion of the separation area to the south west is covered by Strategic Cropping Land (SCL) Trigger Mapping under the Strategic Cropping Land Act 2011 administered by the Department of Natural Resources and Mines. This indicates the location of potential SCL and further on-ground assessment against the SCL criteria is required to confirm whether the area is SCL or non-SCL.
