Spatially resolved spectroscopy of merging clusters in the Shapley concentration

We propose to map the distribution and variation in density and temperature of the intracluster medium in and between the members of the A3528 complex:A3528north, A3528south, A3530, A3532. This allows us to study how ongoing mergers affect the dynamical parameters of these clusters andthe physical characteristics of the galaxy population.The proposed XMM observations will complement our extensive studies of theA3528 complex in the Shapley Supercluster that we are carrying on in the optical and radio wavebands. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
