The bacterial community in a Nile tilapia and garlic aquaponic system co-cultivating various microalgae

We investigated the effects of microalgae co-cultivation (Chlorella vulgaris, Scenedesmus species, and Spirulina platensis) on bacterial communities in the rearing tanks of Nile tilapia and a garlic based aquaponic system. The bacterial community structure and diversity in the fish-rearing tanks and biofilter were analysed via 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing.
