Database for the Development of Capacity Relationships for Earth Dam

This project provides a dataset that contains 94 case histories of earth dam performance during earthquakes since the 1906 San Francisco earthquake to the 2011 Tohoku, Japan earthquake. These case histories were used to develop seismic capacity relationships for earth dams in He and Rathje (2023). Information such as dam name, location of the dam, relative settlement, earthquake name, dam height, dam type, damage description source (if available), and damage description (if available) are provided for each case history. Damage assessments in this project are based on the original authors’ damage descriptions. The database is provided in both .pdf and .xlsx formats.
