These data include soil temperature, pH, and decomposition rates of root and shoot litter placed in the field. It also includes Terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP) of fungi and bacteria that inhabited the litter. The file includes seven sheets. The TRFLP data that is suffixed with "fun" in the sheet name means that plant species were grouped based on whether they were a forb or grass. We provide a supplement in the manuscript that includes code for different analyses using R Software.
