Lignocellulose degrading enrichment microcosms from beaver droppings and moose rumen (16S rRNA gene amplicons and shotgun metagenomes)

To bioprospect novel lignocellulolytic enzymes, lignocellulose-degrading enrichment microcosms were derived from beaver droppings and moose rumen after long-term (3-year) amendment with i) cellulose, ii) cellulose plus lignosulphonate, iii) cellulose plus tannic acid, iv) poplar hydrolysate.This amplicon sequencing project targeted the V5-8 hypervariable region of 16S rRNA genes of the extracted metagenomic DNA from inocula and derived microcosms for community survey.
