Butuo Black Sheep (BBS) exhibits excellent high-altitude adaptability, physical condition, and meat production performance. Despite advancements in genomic research, the genome of BBS remains poorly understood. In this study, we generated a high-quality chromosome-level genome with a size of 2.95 Gb, a contig N50 of 71.45 Mb, and a scaffold N50 of 92.26 Mb. Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs (BUSCO) analysis indicated a genome assembly completeness of 95.9%. De novo genome prediction showed that repetitive sequences accounted for 47.74% of the entire genome, with Long Interspersed Nuclear Elements (LINEs) comprising the largest proportion.Additionally, we report 50 sheep genomes generated by sequencing DNA samples on the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform, with an average depth of 10.36X and paired-end read lengths of 150 bp. A total of ~1.2 TB of raw data was produced, and 99.9% of clean reads successfully mapped to the sheep reference genome assembly with a coverage of 99.6%. This BBS genome dataset provides a valuable resource for studying the genetic diversity and evolutionary patterns of BBS.
