The Rights of Child Migrant Workers in Thailand

This thesis analyses the issue of child labour migration in Thailand, undertaking a critical examination of international and domestic laws and policies relating to children’s rights, child labour and child trafficking. It focuses on independent child migrants, who are often incorrectly regarded as victims of trafficking. It contributes to the area of children’s rights law, migration law and to reconciling these two conflicting approaches, as well as their relation to the law and policy on child labour and human trafficking. It contributes to increasing understanding about the role that international human rights law plays in informing the domestic child protection laws and policies.
