Greenhouse gas emissions from electricity

When compiling life cycle assessments for companies, processes and products, the electricity consumption and the associated greenhouse gas emissions are accounted for. The decisive foundations are the calculation methodology and the composition of the electricity mix. The report analyses current developments in electricity labelling and the impact of trade in guarantees of origin. In addition, various accounting procedures are evaluated on the basis of selected criteria. Based on this, recommendations for the accounting of electricity in life cycle assessments are derived and compared with results of international research. In addition, the report contains various options for electricity customers on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a targeted manner.
