资源简介:

This article examines the sociolinguistic and pragmatic features of women’s discourse on Uzbek and English-language social media. The study focuses on the ways in which women construct social identities, express attitudes, negotiate interpersonal relationships, and communicate within culturally specific digital environments. Particular attention is given to lexical choices, politeness strategies, forms of self-presentation, emotional expression, code-switching, directness, and interactional practices. The comparison demonstrates that women’s online discourse is influenced not only by gender but also by cultural norms, age, education, social status, communicative purpose, and the affordances of digital platforms. Uzbek-language women’s discourse tends to demonstrate greater sensitivity to politeness, social distance, family values, and culturally established norms of femininity, whereas English-language discourse more frequently emphasizes individual identity, self-expression, personal autonomy, and explicit evaluation. At the same time, both discourse communities increasingly employ informal, hybrid, multimodal, and emotionally expressive forms of communication. The research argues that social media has become an important space in which traditional gender norms are reproduced, negotiated, and transformed through language.
