The main objective of this work was to provide a systematic investigation of the microbial composition of biofilms in drinking water distribution systems with different source water histories, and discuss the correlation between the water quality and bacterial community structure. The biofilm samples were excavated from seven different drinking water distribution system sites in a northern city of China.
