Replication data for: KAZAKHSTAN, KYRGYZSTAN, AND TAJIKISTAN (2007-2008): INJECTING DRUG USE AND RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR AMONG AT-RISK YOUTH IN ALMATY (KAZAKHSTAN), BISHKEK (KYRGYZSTAN), AND KULYAB (TAJIKISTAN).

The goal of PSI/Central Asia's program targeting ARY is to reduce the initiation of injecting drug use and to prevent the transmission of HIV through promoting safe sexual behavior. The program combines the distribution of informational and motivational materials to the target group with outreach activities, edutainment group sessions and inter-personal communications delivered by peer educators and opinion leaders. A multi-stage probability sampling strategy was used to recruit respo ndents for the baseline and endline surveys. Respondents consisted of male and female at-risk youth (ARY) living in the three target cities: Almaty (Kazakhstan), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), and Kulyab (Tajikistan).
