TAL mutant of common bacterial blight of bean agents : 6165R(delta)tal22B and 6546R(delta)tal18H

Common bacterial blight caused by Xanthomonas phaseoli pv. phaseoli and Xanthomonas citri pv. fuscans (Xpp-Xcf) is a major threat to common bean. The pathogenicity of these bacteria is variable among strains, and depends mainly on a type III secretion system and associated type III effectors such as transcription activator-like effectors (TALEs). In this study, we generated tal mutant strains 6165R(delta)tal22B and 6546R(delta)tal18H. Then, the pathogenicity of strains 6165R and 6546R were compared to each other and to their corresponding tal mutants. The two tal mutants constructed here induced less symptoms than the wild-type strains, suggesting that TAL18H and TAL22B participate in the pathogenicity of strains 6546R and 6165R, respectively.
