资源简介:
Collaborating with Vancouver Humane Society (VHS), this academia-service-agency partnership will comprehensively examine the factors contributing to pet guardians’ behaviours towards veterinary medical and behavioural interventions during COVID-19. Since the pet guardians’ changes may be occurring during the current public health emergency, the next potential wave(s) of the pandemic, and other prospective extreme events, this partnership will provide scientifically-based, practice-driven, policy-focused evidence to promote the process of VHS-identified knowledge flow triangulation among academia, practice, and policy/decision making in developing a trustworthy examination of animal-human bonds in disaster settings and beyond. The expected short-term outcomes will directly improve the VHS’ practice and policy interventions; the long-term outcomes will benefit broader veterinary service and animal protection community among practitioners, policy/decision makers, the general public, and researchers.
This interview protocol was designed to collect qualitative data for a phenomenological study, contributing to a nuanced understanding of the companion animal guardians’ challenges regarding access to veterinary medical and behavioral services during the first wave of COVID-19 in Vancouver, BC Canada. This interview protocol includes step-by-step instructions for an interviewer to conduct an entire interview, including warm-up, obtain consent form, interview questions, and follow-up. Researchers may adapt this interview protocol for other qualitative research focusing on disaster’s social and behavioural influences on humans and co-inhabitants.
