资源简介:
Background: The purpose of this study was to identify barriers and facilitators to COVID-19 testing and vaccination among people living with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Participants living with SLE from Birmingham, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana were recruited for this study.
Materials/Methods: This study conducted focus groups and interviews to identify salient themes regarding COVID-19 testing and vaccination behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs among vaccinated and unvaccinated people living with SLE. Using a randomized controlled trial design, this study evaluated the efficacy of a novel peer-led intervention to enhance behaviors among people living with SLE and others in their household/social network.
Outcome/Impact: The results of the qualitative data were used to inform the intervention designed to reduce barriers and facilitate COVID-19 testing and vaccination for people living with SLE. Outcomes of this study included participants gaining increased understanding about their behaviors, their health, and the methods they used to cope with psychosocial stressors.
