Triturus balanced lethal system comparative genomics

This project aims to identify and locate coding genes associated with the balanced lethal system in Triturus newts and uncover any chromosomal rearrangements responsible for the system's evolution.Target capture sequencing data from 212 samples of a F2 Triturus ivanbureschi x Triturus macedonicus family is used to identify genes associated with embryonic arrest and place these within a high density linkage map. These genes are also localized within an analogous linkage map, constructed from 205 samples of an F2 Lissotriton vulgaris x Lissotriton montandoni family.
