Data set for: Manuscript Title: Restaurant names in China and America: Cultural specificity and social stratification This dataset comprises 400 randomly selected and segmented Chinese restaurant names sourced from Da Zhong Dian Ping net (https://www.dianping.com/), a Chinese local life information and transaction platform; and 375 randomly selected American restaurant names sourced from Yelp (https://www.yelp.com/), an online platform with a broader user base for discovering local dining options and customer reviews.
