资源简介:
This dataset was used for the paper entitled "Insights on the Status of Bird-Window Collisions in the Philippines from 2013-2025 Through a Citizen Science Project". Bird-window collision (BWC) is an anthropogenic threat to birds as regions become more urbanized and glass panes are incorporated into building designs. These incidents occur due to perception failure where birds cannot distinguish reflective or transparent glass as barriers and fly straight into them, causing injuries or death. Studies about BWCs are mostly from temperate regions (e.g., United States, Canada), leaving a huge knowledge gap on its status in tropical countries where bird diversity is high, like the Philippines. We determined the preliminary status of bird-window collisions in the Philippines through nationwide citizen science reports sent to the Bird Window Strike PH Facebook page.
