The Bactrian Camel Genome Sequencing Project

The Bactrian camel genome sequencing project is conducted by Inner Mongolia Agricultural University (IMAU) and BGI. The DNA extracted from blood sample of female Bactrian camel was sequenced using a whole genome shotgun strategy and the next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology on the Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform. The purpose of this project is to study camel desert adaption and genetic information of important economic traits, such as breeding and reproduction, disease, wool production, milk production, superior meat quality.
