Activation and deactivation maps of the Po River (Italy), spanning 2017 to 2024

This repository contains the data used in the analyses of the peer-reviewed article:Beyond water: mapping sediment bars to enhance satellite monitoring of river dynamics. Tha data consists of two geotifs representing sustained areas of activation and deactivation along the Po River spanning 2017 to 2024. Each pixel is denoted by a number, ranging from 1 to 7, indicating the age of activation/deactivation, i.e., the duration of the sustained change. Activated an deactivated areas map clusters of sustained changes that are retained after the application of two filters, one based on the size of the area (greater or equal to the 75° percentile of size distribution) and the other one on the temporal sequence of ages in each cluster (at least 4 years).
