Clostridium perfringens type E France

Clostridium perfringens type E is the less frequently isolated C. perfringens type and has not previously reported in France. We have characterized two recent type E isolates, C. perfringens 508.17 from the intestinal content of a calf died of enterotoxemia, and 515.17 from stool of a 60 years old woman subsequently to food poisoning, which contain the plasmid pCPPB-1 with variant Iota toxin and C. perfringens enterotoxin genes.
