Surface Meterological Data from the Indian Ocean

This data set consists of surface meterological observations from the Indian Ocean including Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, Laccadive, Andaman & Nicobar Seas, and covering a time period from 1976 to the present. A total of 3270 stations are included. Data include sea surface temperatures, dry bulb & wet bulb temperatures, wind direction & speed, pressure, cloud type & amount and sea state, etc. Data were collected during the cruises of R.V. Gaveshani and ORV Sagar Kanya. This also includes wind data received from the Indian Meteorological Department for eight coastal stations for four years (1980-84) at 6 hourly intervals.
