Curcuma longa cultivar:G26 Genome sequencing

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is an important medicinal herb. The development of superior turmeric varieties in Indonesia is crucial to fulfill domestic and international market demand. Molecular breeding through marker assisted selection (MAS) is necessary for developing superior varieties such as high curcumin content and high yield. This study aims to construct a draft genome of Indonesian turmeric, thus providing a reference genome of Indonesian Turmeric. This research provides basic information for future studies in genome assembly at the chromosome level, which can be utilized as a reference genome for the construction of a SNPs database to accelerate turmeric MAS program.
