Purpose: High-throughput methods have been widely applied to understanding both physiological and pathological liver metabolic characteristics in various species.The goals of this study are to compared the liver transcriptomes between IUGR and the normal neonatal piglets from Day 1 to Day 7, to the weaning day (Day 28) using whole-genome transcriptional sequencing, to gain insight into the dynamics of metabolism, growth, and development in IUGR piglets. Our study demonstrates that the livers of IUGR piglets were associated with a series of complications, including disordered immune functions and inflammatory stress; disorganized cytoskeleton and membrane structure; disrupted transcriptional regulation; and abnormal glucocorticoid metabolism.
