Bacillus megaterium Genome sequencing and assembly

Bacillus megaterium is a Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium isolated from diverse habitats such as soil, seawater etc. and some of the wild type environmental strains have been selected and developed as biotechnology organisms for the production of antibiotics and enzymes. The main aim of this project is to develop methods to distinguish clinical environmental and biotechnologically important strains of B. megaterium, including the type strain ATCC 14581.
