ORNLERASE - EPA PRELIMINARY REMEDIATION GOALS FOR RADIONUCLIDES

This file provides preliminary remediation goals (PRGs) for radionuclides, intended for use during the screening step of a risk assessment. PRGs assist risk assessors, remedial project managers, and other decision-makers at CERCLA sites in developing risk-based targets for remediation. These values are derived using guidance from the Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund: Volume I, Human Health Evaluation Manual (Part B, Development of Risk-based Preliminary Remediation Goals) (RAGS Part B), which outlines methods for calculating risk-based PRGs. Initially applied during the scoping phase of a project using readily available data, PRGs may later be refined based on site-specific information collected during the RI/FS (Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study) process. By streamlining the evaluation of remedial alternatives, PRG development and screening support efficient decision-making. This database tool presents standardized PRGs and variable calculation equations for radioactive contaminants. PRGs are provided for various exposure pathways, including residential soil, outdoor and indoor worker soil, composite worker soil, recreator soil, farmer soil, construction worker soil, tap water, air, farm products, and fish ingestion. The risk-based PRGs for radionuclides are specifically calculated to address their carcinogenic potential.
