Emergencies Survey

The Emergencies survey, a national survey on hospital emergency structures, was conducted in 2013 and 2023 among all emergency departments of hospitals and clinics in France on a Tuesday in June (11/06/2013 and 13/06/2023), from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. the following day. It concerns all reception points of general and paediatric emergency structures. Specialised emergencies (SOS hands, dental, psychiatric, ophthalmological, or gynecological emergencies, etc.) are excluded from the scope of the survey. It describes the diversity of organisations on the territory at the level of each reception point, and at the patient level, the genesis of the use of emergencies, the content and possible difficulties of the care, and the orientation at the end of the transition to emergencies. Detailed data from the Structure section of the 2013 and 2023 editions can be downloaded at the bottom of this page (attachments below). For the 2023 edition, they do not include so far (July 2024) human resources data (questions A38 to I51 of the questionnaire), whose expertise on quality and the treatments to make them reliable are not complete (identification and reprocessing of double-accounts, non-response or inconsistencies). To date, data from the 2023 edition have not yet been disseminated, as expertise on their quality and post-collection processing has not been completed.
