Dataset of neutron transmission spectrum after broad-spectrum neutrons are transported through a uranium-238 sample.

This dataset contains neutron transmission spectrum measurement data of broad-spectrum neutrons after transport in uranium-238 samples. The data generation process is based on the broad spectrum neutrons (white light neutrons) produced by the C12 beam generated by the accelerator bombarding the primary target. The broad spectrum neutrons bombard the uranium-238 sample, and after the neutrons interact with the sample, the transmitted neutron energy spectrum is measured using a neutron detector in the 0 ° direction and the time-of-flight method. The data processing steps mainly include pulse shape discrimination, charged particle deduction, background deduction, detector efficiency correction, flight time energy conversion, etc. Some data are compared and verified based on Monte Carlo simulation. The main equipment used in the experiment includes primary target (W target), plastic scintillator (Veto), uranium-238 sample, beam pickup detector (TP or BM), liquid scintillator detector (N1), time-of-flight measurement system, and related electronics and data acquisition system. This dataset is static measurement data and does not involve temporal information. The spatial information is mainly reflected in the geometric arrangement between the sample and the detector, with a detection direction of 0 ° (i.e. along the direction of the incident neutron beam). The main sources of data errors are detector counting errors, flight distance errors, flight time errors, uncertainty in background subtraction, systematic errors in sample thickness, and time energy conversion accuracy in flight time measurement. The dataset data is processed based on ROOT to obtain the original data and ultimately obtain the transmission neutron energy spectrum data.
