VPRS 12936 Admission/Discharge Register

This series was created to provide a record of prisoners being admitted to a particular prison or section of a prison and, in some cases, details of their discharge from that prison.It should be noted that some of the volumes in this series may only relate to admissions, some may relate only to discharges and some may include details of both admission and discharge.It is not known why a particular prison uses a variety of different formats to record admission / discharge information, although it appears the smaller the prison the more likely that the two activities are combined in one volume.Information included in each volume can vary greatly but may include the prisoner number, name of prisoner, date of trial, date of remand, sentence, offence committee, birthplace (either expressed as a country or a state), religion and age. Some volumes may also contain physical descriptions of prisoners.The discharge component contains information such as the prisoner number, name of prisoner, when discharged, how discharged (i.e., parole) and where discharged.
