Trypanosoma cruzi strain:Colombiana Genome sequencing and assembly

American trypanosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease, caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi (T.cruzi). The distribution of this disease ranges from Southern Argentina to Southern United States of America, where it affects 8 million people and accounts for 662,000 disability-adjusted life years. Although T. cruzi karyotype is not well defined, several studies have demonstrated significant variation in the size and content of chromosomes among different T. cruzi strains. Despite these studies, the extent of diversity in Chromosomal Copy Number Variation (CCNV) among T. cruzi strains based on Read Depth Coverage analysis has not been determined yet. In the present study, we aimed to determinate CCNV among T. cruzi strains, as a new level of gene copy number variation, an important mechanism to enhance gene expression and variability in T. cruzi.
