This is the first study using V3-V4 bacteria sequencing in blood samples of juvenile and adult bisons. Microbiological studies on American bison are extremely few, and even fewer using next-generation sequencing. The information generated in this study may contribute to the health, well-being, management and conservation of this species in Mexico and in other parts of the world. As this is a vulnerable species, it is important to have information that supports its long-term conservation.
