Camellia oleifera is the most important and widely cultivated woody edible oil plant in China with strong resistance to drought and barren soil in the hilly regions. Understanding the molecular mechanism of this trait would greatly enhance the cultivation and genetic breeding. However, there is no detailed transcriptomic and genomic data for C. oleifera under arid-acclimating in public databases currently. Here we report the first analysis of the transcriptome of C. oleifera during arid acclimation using next generation sequencing technology (NGS).
